Named for Overton Love, a prominent Chickasaw who served as a judge and was a member of both the Chickasaw Council and the Dawes Commission, Love County is located in south-central Oklahoma. Early travel routes in Love County included ferries across the Red River, connecting Oklahoma and Texas markets, and the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway, built in 1887. In Marietta, the Love County Historical Society Pioneer Museum features historic artifacts from the area. The WinStar World Casino in Thackerville is the fifth-largest casino in the nation and features lodging, dining, shopping and entertainment.
