Discover the stories that shaped Oklahoma at the Oklahoma History Center, located across from the Oklahoma State Capitol. From Oklahoma’s early history to the people, places, and events that continue to define the state, the History Center offers an engaging look at what makes Oklahoma.
Explore five galleries inside the 215,000 square foot center, where exhibits bring Oklahoma’s history to life through compelling stories and artifacts. Visitors can also explore the State Archives and Research Center and learn more about the preservation of Oklahoma’s historic places. Outside, follow the Red River Journey on a walking tour through the Red River Valley. Experience the landscape up close as you discover native vegetation, distinctive landforms, and historic locations. Along the way, explore outdoor exhibits including an oilfield, 14 Flags Over Oklahoma, and Tip of the Spear, featuring a Huey helicopter.
Operated by the Oklahoma Historical Society, the Oklahoma History Center offers dynamic exhibits, exceptional collections, and educational experiences for visitors of all ages. As a Smithsonian Affiliate, the museum connects Oklahoma’s unique story with a broader national perspective, making it a memorable stop for anyone looking to discover the history and heritage of the state.
