Peyton's Place
Located near Tahlequah, Peyton's Place is one of the oldest canoe camps on the Illinois River. A variety of lodging options are offered, including air-conditioned cottages for singles, couples or small families, a lodge for large groups, RV sites and a riverside primitive campground.
The cottages are small A-frame structures that feature kitchenettes. These one-bedroom units create a cozy and private atmosphere for guests, making them perfect for couples. A group lodge is available for accommodating large get-togethers, and includes 48 beds, a meeting room, kitchen, fireplace and more to make your stay comfortable.
Campsites at Peyton's Place feature picnic tables, raised charcoal grills and easy access to the river. Reconnect with nature in the expansive campground, and enjoy the shade provided by the huge trees in the area. A restroom and shower facility is conveniently located in the campground between the tent camping area and the RV park, which features ten spaces with electrical, sewage and water connections. A small store with supplies and souvenirs is also located on-site so you won't have to go far for necessities.
Peyton's Place also offers raft, kayak and canoe rentals for your float trip on the Illinois River. Float trips can be arranged for various lengths and skill levels, from a 6-mile-long trip to a journey that takes a couple days. Load up family or friends for the float trip on a raft, which can carry up to six people. Try a ride on the river in a canoe with a couple friends, or set off on your own in a kayak and paddle downstream at your own pace. Whatever mode of transport you choose to float the Illinois River, you're in for an unforgettable experience.
