Waurika Lake is located on Beaver Creek, a tributary of the Red River. This lake near the town of Waurika features excellent fishing and hunting opportunities with principal species of channel catfish, flathead catfish, bullhead catfish, largemouth bass, crappie and sunfish. Principal hunting targets are whitetail deer, quail, mourning dove, cottontail rabbit, wild turkey and numerous waterfowl.
Six recreation areas are located around the lake and large expanses of open water provide enjoyment to boating and skiing enthusiasts. Facilities include a full service marina, picnic areas, RV campsites with full hookups, group shelters, restrooms, showers, swimming beaches, change houses, electric outlets, a playground, and both nature and equestrian trails. Over 300 campsites are located around the lake. Six day-use areas are available, as well as six boat ramps and several primitive access points. Waurika Lake offers 10,100 surface acres and 80 miles of shoreline.
