Down Home Blues Club & OK Blues Hall of Fame
The childhood home of famed blues guitarist D.C. Minner is now a club featuring blues artists' memorabilia. Opened in 1988 by Minner and his bassist wife, Selby, this landmark serves as both a historic and active musical venue in the historic all-black town of Rentiesville. After Minner's death in 2008, his band bassist and wife Selby continued performing, recording and teaching the blues in Oklahoma and around the nation.
This multifaceted space hosts the annual Dusk 'Til Dawn Blues Festival each autumn and the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame, a series of photographs that celebrate lesser-known Oklahoma blues musicians. In the back of the club, the D.C. Minner Rentiesville Museum archives the great guitar player's career. Enter his recording studio and view music collections, personal items, photos and music of bands who have played the annual festival. Be sure to check out the gift shop and convenience store before you leave this special venue dedicated to D.C. Minner's legacy.
