Celebrate the start of winter with a Winter Solstice Tour at the Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center. Participants will learn about this unique prehistoric mound site, the significance of the solstice and the solar alignments that occur at Spiro. The center's director, Anna Vincent, will lead the tours and share the history of excavations at the site, discuss Native American ceremonies, and recount unusual events associated with the mounds and answer questions from visitors. 

There will be two tours offered—the first at 11am and the second at 4pm. The latter will conclude with a view of the sunset on the upper terrace followed by a bonfire and hot chocolate at the visitor center.
