Juneteenth Celebration
Make your way to Lawton for the annual Juneteenth festivities at Patterson Community Center. Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. These celebrations date back to June 19, 1865, when General Granger landed in Galveston, Texas, with news that the war had ended and the enslaved were now free. As the news spread, the day became known as Juneteenth. Celebrate this important national holiday alongside the Lawton-Fort Sill community during the annual Juneteenth Celebration this June.
