Established in 1986, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame honors the outstanding athletes, coaches, and sports figures who have represented Oklahoma with excellence at the regional, national, and international levels. Each year, new inductees and Teams of Legends are recognized and celebrated for their lasting contributions to sports.
In addition to preserving Oklahoma's rich athletic history, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame is nationally recognized for presenting the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the nation's top defensive back in college football, and the Aeneas Williams Award, which honors the top defensive back in HBCU Division I college football. For more than 30 years, the organization has also championed youth programs that promote healthy lifestyles, education, and character development for children across Oklahoma.
