Tony K. Burris Korean Medal of Honor Recipient Memorial
This memorial recognizes Tony K Burris, a local Medal of Honor recipient from the Korean War. Sergeant First Class Tony K Burris was born in Blanchard on May 30, 1929. He was of Choctaw heritage. He gave his life leading his platoon during the Battle of Heartbreak Ridge on October 9, 1951. He was also awarded a Silver Star and a Purple Heart for his heroic actions on the field of battle. He was laid to rest in Blanchard Cemetery.
