100th Meridian Museum
100th Meridian Museum
Located right off historic Route 66 in the town of Erick, the 100th Meridian Museum offers a fascinating look at life and history along one of America’s most significant geographic boundaries. The 100th meridian west, running vertically through the Great Plains, has traditionally served as America's climate divide between the “humid East” and “arid West.” The line of longitude also marks a border between Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle.
Housed in a historic early-1900s bank, the 100th Meridian Museum combines local heritage with broader stories of the American West. Inside, visitors will find exhibits that span hundreds of years — from Native American cultures and life to cowboy trail drives and early settlement in western Oklahoma. The museum highlights how the 100th meridian west shaped everything from climate and agriculture to migration and frontier life.
