While Fort Davis is no longer intact, you can see the historic marker in Muskogee. Fort Davis was a Confederate post established in 1861 and named for President Jefferson Davis. It was destroyed in 1862 by U.S. Troops including the Third Indian Home Guard. The marker was erected in 1995 by the Oklahoma Historical Society. Look for a small stone marker located along York St (SH-16), across the road from the Muskogee Church of Christ.
