Join Great Plains State Park staff on New Year's Day for the park's annual First Day Hike. Meet at the park office parking lot at 11am for your choice of two hikes. The first is a moderate hike on the three-mile Granite Hills trail, and the second is an easy one-mile hike on the AARP Heart Healthy Trail (stroller-friendly and ADA-compliant). Be sure to bring your camera, binoculars, water and appropriate dress for cold weather. Leashed pets are welcome.

The event is held in conjunction with the America's State Parks First Day Hikes initiative that will take place in all 50 states. First Day Hikes offer individuals and families the opportunity to begin the New Year connecting with the outdoors and staying active.
