The Mitchell's are of African American and Native American ancestry...a blending of culture that was not uncommon and yet one seldom mentioned in the history books. At the Leona Mitchell Southern Heights Heritage Center & Museum, the blending of cultures is celebrated, even beyond the museum's walls, with cultural events and even a kid's music camp.
