Alabaster Caverns State Park is home to the world's largest natural gypsum cave open to the public. On the first Saturday in May, guests are invited to join guides as they take you through the park's wild caves, if you've never given spelunking a shot, Cave Exploration Day is the perfect chance to try it for free at Alabaster Caverns State Park.
This event is limited to wild caves only. Main cavern tours will begin promptly at the top of each hour from 9am to 4pm. Guides will demonstrate proper caving etiquette and safety as you explore the wild caves. You will be invited to hike steep hills, climb and crawl in tight spaces, water and sometimes thick mud.
Required Equipment: Hard hat (or bicycle helmet), three light sources per person, long sleeve shirt, long pants, closed toe shoes, gloves, bottle of water, knee pads are not required but recommended.
All spelunkers shall be required to sign a liability release prior to beginning the spelunking activity. Signature of a responsible adult 18 years of age or older is required.
