The Dobson Museum & Home
Operated by the Ottawa County Historical Society, the Dobson Museum & Home preserves the history of the area through thousands of artifacts. The Dobson Museum is home to decades worth of Ottawa County history, from the nine Native American tribes that call the area home to local legends like Mickey Mantle, Charles Banks Wilson, as well as Steve and Cassie Gaines.
The museum also preserves the history of the area's mining industry as well as the local stories that fill the years in between. The archival research room is ever-growing and the newspaper room boasts hundreds of articles from all different sources within Ottawa County.
Alongside the museum stands the 100 year old Dobson Home, kept intact and open to the public for tours. Take a moment to step back in time and enjoy the house that the Dobson family called home.
In the 1890s, Solomon Dobson traveled to the area now known as Miami in a covered wagon, hailing from Kentucky. He established his family home in Indian Territory and over the years grew his family’s fortune and became one of the most influential people in the county.
