Cake will be “Going the Distance” across the U.S. this summer with a stop at the Zoo Amphitheater in September. Belt out the lyrics to “Short Skirt, Long Jacket” and their cover of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.”  The band has merged elements from multiple genres to form their unique sound. From alternative rock and experimental country to mariachi, the band’s popularity exploded in the mid-to-late 1990s. Cake’s blend of melancholy, deadpan lyrics over often upbeat riffs have sustained their wide appeal over their 30-year career span. Cake has a live album due for release in June titled “Live from Folsom.”
