All-Black Towns Bus Tour
Jun 14, 2025
Learn about Oklahoma's African-American history during the All-Black Towns Bus Tour. Between 1865 and 1915, there were roughly 60 Black towns established in the United States, and Oklahoma led all other states with more than 20 within its borders. Discover the fascinating history of these towns on this unique tour.
Two buses, each with a historian aboard, will take visitors to traditionally all-Black towns in Oklahoma. At each stop, local historians and citizens will share the history of their town and its role in Oklahoma's story.
This all-day tour departs from the Rudisill Regional Library in Tulsa and travels to historic towns like Grayson, Clearview and Boley, where guests will learn more about the towns' heritage and meet their current mayors. Space is limited, so tickets must be purchased in advance in person at the Rudisill Regional Library.
