Mental Health Awareness Month in Oklahoma

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Oklahoma Tourism is partnering with 988 Oklahoma to provide resources, insights and fun, healthy ideas for getting out and about in Oklahoma. Whether you’re looking for a sunny beach where you can sink your toes in the sand or a cozy bookstore where you can curl up in a reading room, these trip ideas are just some of the many options to bring some calm and joy to your life.

Natural Falls State Park - Colcord

Awe-inspiring views of Oklahoma’s 77-foot waterfall await visitors to this pristine park. Hike to the bottom of the falls where you can experience the sights and sounds while remaining tucked away in a hidden, serene valley.

Foss State Park - Foss

Sink your toes in the sand at Foss State Park. Although Oklahoma is a landlocked state, it offers plenty of lakes and rivers lined by sandy beaches. In addition to a large swimming beach along Foss Lake, this peaceful park also offers five palapas at Sunset Beach.

According to 988 Mental Health Lifeline, getting regular exercise has been shown to lessen symptoms of depression and anxiety. Visit one of Oklahoma’s Heart Healthy Trails and take a step in the right direction. Heart Healthy Trails are classified as a paved trail or nature/hiking trail that is of easy to moderate difficulty and marked by Heart Healthy Trail signs at 1/4 mile intervals.
