Museum After Dark: "Memories of Injustice" Lecture with Sam Mihara
Aug 8, 2025
This summer, the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center welcomes historian and educator Sam Mihara to present his lecture, "Memories of Injustice" about the history of Japanese American incarceration during World War II. Mihara will discuss his experience as a prisoner in a U.S. relocation camp near Heart Mountain, Wyoming. When he was nine years old, Mihara and his family were forcibly removed from their home in San Francisco to a prison camp where they lived in a small barrack for the next three years.
The highly acclaimed speaker has given over 450 speeches around the world and has earned several prestigious awards for his efforts to educate the public about the mass injustice. Mihara's presentation will be featured in conjunction with the "Resilience: A Sansei Sense of Legacy" exhibit, which will be on display in the museum's gallery.
