Powwow Of Champions
Aired On: 2014-08-23The ORU Mabee Center in Tulsa will come alive in a colorful expression of dance, drum music and song as members of tribal nations from around the country gather to honor, strengthen and share traditions with each other and the general public at this year's Powwow of Champions. Over 300 dancers, dressed in full Native American regalia, will participate throughout the weekend in ceremonies and dances, including awe-inspiring grand entries, intertribal dances and dance competitions. The Powwow of Champions, hosted by the Intertribal Indian Club of Tulsa, will also feature arts and crafts including an excellent selection of traditional and contemporary jewelry, turquoise, artwork, Kachina dolls, beadwork, paintings, pottery, quality handcrafted items, books and music. Traditional foods will be a prominent part of this annual powwow. Fry bread, corn soup and Indian tacos will be available as well as many other tempting and tasty items.
