This May, head to Catoosa for the Route 66 Blue Whale Run and the grand opening of the Blue Whale Visitor Center. The grand opening celebrates one of Oklahoma's most recognizable Route 66 landmarks, the Blue Whale of Catoosa. The morning of the grand opening will begin with a one-mile fun run followed by a 5K. The grand opening festivities will begin at noon with a craft vendor market and food trucks followed by a ribbon cutting, live music and a fireworks finale to close the evening.
The new visitor center will honor the history of the Blue Whale while enhancing the experience for travelers and the community. The 4,000-square foot facility includes a gift shop, historical photos and artwork, updated traveler amenities, a concession area as well as a meeting hall and event space.
