Opening Night
Dec 31, 2023
Opening Night is a New Year's Eve celebration with music, dancing, theater and fireworks. Since 1987, Opening Night has been the way to ring in the New Year in downtown Oklahoma City. All performances take place in a safe, family-friendly environment in venues around the downtown area; a wristband permits attendees into all the venues. Performances will be held at four locations: the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Civic Center Music Hall, the Downtown Metropolitan Library and the OKC City Hall. Come to Opening Night and enjoy a variety of performances from some of Oklahoma's brightest stars on multiple stages.
Finding Opening Night is simple. Festivities take place in the downtown area bordered by Sheridan on the south and Dean A. McGee on the north, Walker on the west and Broadway on the east. Parking is available in lots and garages located throughout the downtown area and within walking distance of the performance sites. All parking garages will be accessible.
Opening Night offers a variety of party favors available for purchase that will ensure you are colorful, shiny, loud and sure to stand out. Find the perfect hat, horn, noisemaker and glow necklace at the OKC Convention Center, Leadership Square and other areas around downtown.
There's plenty of entertainment on the streets around Opening Night to hold your attention all night long. Enjoy singing, dancing, magic and more as the Opening Night strolling performers keep you entertained. Clowns and face-painters will be on-hand to entertain the kids, and an inflatable obstacle course will be available for children to play on.
The countdown to midnight begins at 11:30pm with an elaborate sound and light show at Bicentennial Park. At midnight, the skyline will light up with a magical fireworks extravaganza to welcome the new year.
