Join the party this August at Tenkiller State Park in Vian as Smokey Bear fans celebrate the icon's birthday. Created in 1944, Smokey Bear and his wildfire prevention ads are the longest-running public service campaign in United States history. America's favorite firefighting bear turns 82 this year, and everyone is invited to come out and salute the lovable legend who has promoted wildfire awareness for generations.

This special celebration is full of fun for all, including a scavenger hunt, crafts, games, prizes, giveaways, snacks and more. Make sure to grab a picture with Smokey Bear and his friend Park Pal, the raccoon mascot of Oklahoma State Parks. Sponsored by AARP Oklahoma, the theme for this year’s birthday celebration is “Leave No Trace,” which refers to best practices designed to minimize human impact on the environment during outdoor recreation.
